Non-profit will expand Catholic radio in the Twin Cities Twin Hearts Media to Purchase Radio Station
April 8, 2002

NEWS RELEASE

Ham Lake, MN – When Catholic Family Radio died just over a year ago, some thought that Catholic radio in the Twin Cities was gone for good. If Twin Hearts Media and their many supporters have their way, Catholic radio in the Twin Cities will soon be resurrected.

Last week North Star Broadcasting, Ltd., current owner of KSMM (AM), 1530 kHz, Shakopee, MN, and Twin Hearts Media, Inc. filed an application with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The application seeks FCC consent to the assignment of the KSMM license and sale of the KSMM broadcasting assets from North Star to Twin Hearts.

The purchase of the station will allow Twin Hearts Media to reach a potential of 2.5 million listeners in the greater Twin Cities area with its unique and inspirational programming.

"Pending approval of the transfer of (AM) 1530 by the FCC, Twin Hearts Media will bring a permanent and dedicated voice for Catholic Radio to the greater Twin Cities area," said Mark Hapka, president of Twin Hearts Media.

Twin Hearts Media is currently embarking on an ambitious capital campaign and evaluating the possibility of expanding the reach of the station’s signal. Twin Hearts Media is also purchasing airtime on AM 1530 to broadcast the popular program Catholic Answers Live daily M-F at 5pm.

Feast of St. Leander of Seville

Dear Supporters of Twin Hearts Media,

We have GREAT NEWS to share with you! Beginning Monday March 4th, Catholic Answers will be aired LIVE on KSMM AM1530 from 5pm to 6pm. This move enables our Twin Cities listeners to interact live with the hosts of this excellent program. We encourage you to call in your questions at 1-888-31TRUTH or 1-888-318-7884. For our Spanish listeners, a Sunday morning program, "To the Rhythm of Jesus" is also being aired from 10:30am to 11:00am on KSMM AM1530.

Until further notice, The Doctor Is In program will not be aired locally as we are actively engaged in a comprehensive campaign to raise the necessary funds to purchase a full-time Catholic radio station. The best news is that an offer we recently placed on a station has been accepted. At this very moment, we are in the process of negotiating a purchase agreement with the owner of the station.

How can you help bring full-time Catholic Radio to the Twin Cities?

1. PRAY, PRAY, PRAY for the return of Catholic radio.

2. Let us know if you are able to arrange a meeting with financially blessed Catholics who may be willing to contribute capital toward a station acquisition by calling us at
763-757-4282.

3. More than ever before we need your support. Continue to send your tax-deductible contributions to Twin Hearts Media, 14815 Aberdeen Street NE. Ham Lake, MN. 55304 www.twinheartsmedia.org

4. Consider becoming a sponsor for Twin Hearts Media. This involves promoting and raising community awareness of the Twin Hearts Media Radio ministry with your neighbors, family, friends and Church groups.

There are many meaningful and painless ways to support this initiative. Gifts of stock and cash pledges made through one’s brokerage or checking account are just two methods of doing so. But whatever you prayerfully chose to do is greatly appreciated. May God bless you and may our Lady protect your family.

THANK YOU for your ongoing support and efforts to bring Catholic radio back to the Twin Cities!

Sincerely in Christ,
Twin Hearts Media Officers
Terry Betthauser
